Coach Chris Blair
Coach Chris Blair brings decades of diverse coaching experience and an unwavering passion for youth sports to Crank It. He is currently the Head Varsity Volleyball Coach at Clawson High School. A proud graduate of Fraser High School, Chris began his athletic career as a baseball umpire from 1984 to 1987, followed by coaching youth baseball and later cheer and tumbling gymnastics from 1993 to 2006.
In 2006, he was recruited by longtime friend Denise Sargent to umpire girls’ softball, and just a few years later, joined the Crank It Volleyball Club coaching staff in 2009. Since then, Coach Blair has become a staple in the Michigan volleyball community, guiding athletes from the novice level to elite competitive play. From 2014 to 2019, Chris led the varsity volleyball team at South Lake High School, securing three district titles, one regional championship, and earning Division BCD “Coach of the Year” honors in both 2016 and 2018. His high school coaching journey has also included successful tenures at Lutheran High North as assistant coach (2020–2021) contributing to another district championship, Lakeview High School as JV and assistant varsity coach (2023), and Clawson High School JV A coach (2024). He now proudly serves as Clawson’s Head Varsity Coach. Chris is also a registered MHSAA and club volleyball official, and his love for the sport grows stronger each season. With a coaching style grounded in enthusiasm, integrity, and mentorship, he is deeply committed to being a positive influence in the lives of young athletes. Off the court, Chris enjoys fishing, kayaking, and spending time outdoors. He has been happily married to his wife, Sandie, for 34 years. |
